Caring for Silver plate

If your silver-plated items are showing some signs of tarnish and require a clean, please use the following methods. However, remember to be very gentle with the plating and wipe lightly, without scrubbing it.

• Use a mild soap and warm water to create a solution. Leave the jewellery in the water for a few minutes.

• Using a soft cloth, buff all over.

• Once clean, rinse in warm water.

• Wipe with a lint-free cloth thoroughly to ensure fully dried before you store them.

You can also choose to use a jewellery cleaning cloth, which will clean dirt and tarnish as well as give a shine.

Storing Silver plate

Before storing away silver plated jewellery, make sure that it is completely dry. Exposure to air and moisture is what causes tarnish.

Place in an airtight bag, such as a grip lock bag, as this will reduce exposure to air, which will down the rate of tarnish.
