Cleaning Silver Plate

If your silver-plated items are showing some signs of tarnish and needs a new lease of life, use either method below. However, remember to be very gentle with the plating and buff softly, avoiding scrubbing it.

  • mix mild soap and warm water. Pop the jewellery in the water for a few minutes.

  • Using a soft cloth, buff thoroughly

  • Once clean, rinse with warm water.

  • Wipe with a lint-free cloth making sure that the jewellery is fully dried before you store them away.

Alternatively you can use a jewellery cleaning cloth to buff your jewellery.

Storing Silver Plate

Before storing away silver-plated jewellery, make sure it is dry. Exposure to air and moisture is what causes silver to tarnish.

Place in an airtight bag, such as a grip lock bag, as this will reduce exposure to air, which will down the rate of tarnish.
